  • Emerson Paul Grabke, MHSc

    MD/PhD Candidate

Emerson’s focus is on the use of federated learning in prostate cancer diagnosis with MRI. Emerson began his academic career in Toronto where he received a BASc in Robotics Engineering through the University of Toronto Engineering Science Program. He then completed an MHSc at the University of Toronto in Clinical Engineering, where he developed a system for standing postural control rehabilitation by combining visual feedback training and functional electrical stimulation. Emerson is currently enrolled in the combined MD/PhD program at the University of Toronto, where he aspires to eventually work as a liaison between the academic and medical communities. In his spare time, Emerson plays the violin, piano, and guitar; dances west coast swing; and studies interpersonal neurobiology.

  • Felix Harder, MD

    Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

Felix is a radiology resident at the University Hospital of the Technical University of Munich in Germany. He joined our lab as a postdoctoral research fellow. Felix’s research focuses on abdominal and oncologic imaging, in particular with regard to hepatobiliary, pancreatic and prostatic diseases. Moreover, he focuses on the development and implementation of novel imaging biomarkers, based on artificial intelligence-derived approaches as well as advanced imaging techniques, especially in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.

  • Carolina Heming, MD

    Post Doctoral Research Fellow

Carolina is a board certified radiologist from Brazil. She studied medicine at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and completed Radiology residency at Federal Hospital of Servants also in Rio de Janeiro. She has since completed a fellowship in Abdominal Imaging and she is a National Cancer Institute staff radiolgist in Brazil with experience in oncologic imaging. Her work focuses upon the use of artificial intelligence to test a clinically significant prostate cancer detection using deep convolutional neural networks models with adequate performance for future clinical validation trials. In her free time, she likes to get to know new people and places.

  • Gerard Healy, MBBCh, FFRRCSI, PhD

    Clinical Research Fellow
    2019-2022

Gerard is from Ireland. He studied medicine at the National University of Ireland, Galway and underwent Radiology training at St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin, Ireland. He has since completed fellowships in Abdominal Imaging and Interventional Radiology. He joined our lab for a research fellowship funded by a scholarship from the Faculty of Radiologists, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. His work focuses upon the use of artificial intelligence to identify imaging biomarkers in hepatobiliary disease, particularly pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. He returns to be on staff at St Vincent’s Hospital after successfully completing his PhD with us.
